This course is an interdisciplinary, multi-perspective introduction to the cultural, philosophical, and aesthetic forms critical to the development of our individual and social values. The first half of this course will focus on pre–history, the earliest civilizations, and the impact of Greek and Roman society. The second half of the course will focus on the three great monotheistic traditions, Medieval Europe, and ends with the Italian Renaissance of the 1400s.
